HISTORY: On August 30, 1937 World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis made the first defense of the title he won from James J. Braddock two months earlier. The opponent was the tough Welshman Tommy Farr. Louis successfully defended his title scoring a 15 round decision over Farr. To commemorate the event at Yankee Stadium a large assembly of current and former champions were on hand and were brought into the ring before the fight. A famous photograph of these great champions was taken. Presented here is an original, first generation photograph of the great champions as they were introduced before the Louis-Farr fight standing in the ring. This magnificent sepia tone 15" x 20" photograph has been signed by most of the fighters pictured with all signatures in ink. Signers include: Jack Johnson, Jimmy Braddock, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Benny Leonard, Mickey Walker, Max Schmeling, Johnny Dundee, Marcel Thil, Pedro Montanez, Barney Ross, Lou Ambers, Fred Apostoli, Ceferino Garcia, Sixto Escobar, Harry Jeffra, and Arthur Donovan (referee). Authenticated by PSA/DNA with their full LOA.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, first generation photograph. Bold, clear image. Clean. Professionally framed. 15" x 20" photograph. All signatures are in ink. Signatures of Johnny Dundee and Max Schmeling at far right are lighter, but still perfectly readable. The others are 8/10. A few cracks in the emulsion, but nothing that takes away from the photo itself or the signatures. Likely the only such signed photo in existence and to include this incredible grouping, arguably the finest autographed photo in boxing history.
