HAMED, PRINCE NASEEM-MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA TEMPORARY CREDENTIAL (2001)

JO Sports Inc.

Regular price $85.00

HISTORY: On April 7, 2001 at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas Prince Naseem Hamed and Marco Antonio Barrera fought for the Lineal and vacant IBO featherweight championship. Barrera won a unanimous 12 round decision and the titles. Barrera was a 3 to 1 underdog heading into this fight. Barrera deducted one point in the 12th for intentionally slamming Hamed's head into a turnbuckle. This fight marked a stylistic change for the previously hard-charging Barrera, who utilized sound boxing technique to defeat the highly unorthodox Hamed. HBO's Harold Lederman scored the bout 115-112 for Barrera. He had Hamed ahead 3-2 after 5 rounds, and even at the half way mark. Barrera was up by just two points going into the championship rounds which he won as Hamed tired. Fight generated 310,000 PPV Buys. Barrera wins the Lineal and IBO Featherweight titles. Offered here is a scarce, original, Temporary Credential for this event.
