Harvey prevailed stopping Gains in the 13th round.  "Len Harvey, Thursday night successfully defended his British Empire heavyweight boxing title by stopping Larry Gains, Toronto, in the 13th round of their 15 round bout at Harringay Arena. Gains, obviously aging, was puffing badly, staggering and had a bad cut over his left eye when he withdrew. The Toronto challenger indicated it probably was his last professional fight." -Canadian Press

Post fight comment-"When you ask me if that's my last fight, you put me on the spot. I've been a long time in the ring and I don't like to think about last fights. I suppose that was it, and I won't be definite right now." -Larry Gains. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts action during the fight.
