JO Sports, Inc.

Regular price $165.00

HISTORY: On September 28, 1939, postponed from September 11th, at Clark Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C. world featherweight champion Joey Archibald defended his title against Harry Jeffra. Jeffra won a 15 round split decision and the title. Archibald was stripped of recognition by the NBA in April 1940 for failing to meet Petey Scalzo. Maryland then split from the NBA because it refused to recognize Scalzo. "Most of the 10,000 fans who saw the fight 'booed' heartily for fifteen minutes and showered the ring with refuse last night when the split decision was announced... Sports writers were virtually unanimous in believing Jeffra the winner." (UP). Offered here is an original, on site, stubless ticket for this event.
