James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He initialy retired undefeated in 1905 posting career victories over James Corbett, Tom Sharkey as well as Robert Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Offered here is a signed photograph of James Jeffries which dates to his fighting career.
This is an original photograph of James J. Jeffries in full fight pose. Has a small dink in upper left corner. Has a small hole in the lower left corner outside of the signature. Bold image. Signed, "Yours truly Jas J Jeffries 9/18/99." The first 9 in the month and the first 9 in the year look like they were written over. Slight smudge in second e in Jeffries.
