James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He initially retired undefeated in 1905 posting career victories over James Corbett, Tom Sharkey as well as Robert Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Offered here is an original, real photo postcard of James Jeffries dated May 1910 by the photographer Dana Studio and depicting Jeffries as he looked during training for his July 4, 1910 fight with Jack Johnson.
