HISTORY: On June 27, 1914 in Paris, France world heavyweight champion Jack Johnson successfully defended his title winning a 20 round decision over Frank Moran. In April, 1932 in Boulder City, Nevada Johnson and Moran met again in an American Legion exhibition. Offered here is an original, first generation photo from the event depicting the two shaking hands before the contest and which has been signed by Frank Moran. Both the photo and the Moran autograph are authenticated by PSA/DNA. From the family of Gerald T. Houghland and also comes with their letter.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original Type 1, first generation photo. Bold, clear image. Signed in fountain pen ink, "To Gerald from Frank Moran." Autograph is readable, but blends into dark background. Small corner creases at lower left and upper right corners. Tack hole at top border. Minor soiling at top border. Corner wear. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2." LOAs from PSA/DNA for the photo and autograph and a letter from family of Gerald T. Hougland, the man Moran inscribed the photo to. Exceedingly rare, the only photo from the event we have offered.
