Regular price $425.00

HISTORY: On September 25, 1989 at the National Sports Centre Crystal Palace in London future world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis fought his 3rd professional fight against Andy Gerrard. Lewis stopped Gerrard in the 4th round. Much more comfortable that in his two previous bouts, Lewis came out in the 1st Round with more control and peppered Gerrard with the jab. He landed three hooks to the body capped with a big uppercut in the opening minute that snapped back the head of Gerrard. Midway through the round, Gerrard began to bleed from the nose and mouth. In Round 2, Lewis continued to pump the jab into Gerrard's face with a high level of success. Clearly outclassed, Gerrard began to resort to "clowning" and playing to the crowd. In Round 3, Lewis continued to work the jab but opened up his offense some and stung Gerrard with a combination early in the round. Lewis began to pour it on near the end of the round as Gerrard was against the ropes. As the round ended and Lewis returned to his corner, Gerrard stood against the ropes and did not immediately go back to his corner. At this, Lewis humorously walked over, pointed to Gerrard's corner and pushed him in that direction. In Round 4, Lewis punished his opponent landing four consecutive straight right hands that caused Gerrard to stumble back into the corner. At this the referee stepped in and waved an end to the bout. Offered here is a scarce, original, official program for this event.
