Rocky Marciano was born on September 1, 1923 in Brockton, Mass. On September 23, 1952 he won the World Heavyweight Title from Jersey Joe Walcott. He retired as champion on April 27, 1956 with a final record of 49-0 with 43 KO's. Rocky Marciano died tragically on August 31, 1969 in an airplane crash. Presented here are a pair of fight worn boxing trunks used by world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano during an exhibition fight in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1956. Rocky Marciano, after his retirement, participated in numerous exhibitions and appearances until his death.These fight trunks originate from the family of Rocky Marciano and come with a notarized letter of authenticity from his brother. Also come with a photograph of Marciano in Brazil wearing the trunks.
These trunks are white with the American and Brazilian flags at lower right leg. On the lower left leg is sewn RADIO BANDERIRANTES (the sponsor of Marciano on this trip). Inside the waistband is the manufacturer's label for Casa d Esportista of Sao Paulo, The trunks have a number of stains and a few small holes, but are still perfectly intact. Professionally framed with a name plate which put the year worn incorrectly at 1958 (it was 1956). Letter of authenticity notarized by the brother of Rocky Marciano. Photograph of Marciano wearing the trunks is included. Incredibly rare and historic.
