HISTORY: On July 5, 1957 at the Capitol Arena in Washington, D.C. future world featherweight champion Davey Moore fought Isidro Martinez in a featured bout. Moore won a unanimous ten round decision. “Moore, an 8-5 underdog made the odds appear ludicrous as he battered the Panamanian featherweight champion from start to finish. Davey slashed across a sizzling right in the seventh that sent Martinez to the canvas. Isidro was up at the count of 2 but even after waiting out the compulsory toll of 8 was a wobbly warrior. Moore lost to Martinez in Colon, Panama two years ago. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts Moore down in the 8th round.
