HISTORY: Pedlar Palmer was born on November 19, 1876 in Canning Town, London, England. He fought his first professional fight on January 1, 1891 defeating W.C.Bond in 11 rounds. He went on to win the English 102lb., 106 lb. and 108 lb. titles before defeating Billy Plimmer by disqualification in 10 rounds to win the World 112 lb.Title on November 25, 1895. On October 12, 1896 he won a 20 round decision over Johnny Murphy to win the World Bantamweight Title. He held that title until September 12, 1899 when he was stopped in one round by the great Terry McGovern. Palmer proved his mettle as a fighter recording victories over George Dixon and Digger Stanley. He retired after losing to Jim Driscoll on March 10, 1919. Pedlar Palmer passed away in 1949. Offered here is an original boxing silk issued in 1898 to commemorate Palmer's TKO in round 17 over Billy Plimmer on December 12, 1898 in defense of his world bantamweight title.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original boxing silk made of silk fabric. It has been partially adhered to thin board. Illustrated with a bust pose of Pedlar Palmer. A bit frayed at upper right corner and upper border. One spot adjacent to word, WHO. Small hole at lower left corner. Color is slightly faded, but image, colors in corners and print are all perfectly visible. 32" x 33."
