Ultiminio "Sugar" Ramos was born in Matanzas, Cuba on December 2, 1941 one of a family of 14. His first professional fight was a victory over Rene Arce on October 5, 1957. Ramaos was a hard puncher and won 13 of his first 15 bouts by knockout. He fled Cuba for Mexico and continued his success there. On March 21, 1963 he challenged Davey Moore for the World Featherweight Title. Ramos knocked Moore out in the 10th round. Moore died as a result of injuries suffered in the fight. Ramos made three successful defenses of the title before losing it to Vicente Saldivar in 1964. Ramos challenged Cralos Ortiz twice for the World Lightweight Title, but was stopped both times by Ortiz. Ramos retired after losing to Cesar Sinda On April 24, 1972 with a final record of 55-7-4. This is an 8" x 10" photograph of Sugar Ramos which he has boldly signed in blue sharpie. No creases or tears. Clean front and back. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Jim Stinson who had the photo signed in Mexico City ob February 1, 1990.
