ROBINSON, SUGAR RAY-GEORGIE ABRAMS ORIGINAL WIRE PHOTO (1947-AT MEDICALS)

On May 16, 1947 at Madison Square Garden in New York Sugar Ray Robinson and Georgie Abrams met in the main event. Robinson won a controversial 10 round split decision. "The verdict (for Robinson) was accompanied by a solid round of boos." (World Boxing, Feb. 1995 p. 48). Offered here is an original wire photo of the two fighters clowning around at the physical for the fight.
