On July 22, 1940 at Red Wings Stadium in Rochester, New York future world champion Sugar Ray Robinson, fighting as a lightweight, fought Tommy Moyer in an amateur fight featuring Gold Gloves champions vs. A.A.U. champions. This five-round amateur bout in Rochester, New York determined the winner to go the 1940 Olympics. Robinson was the winner in a close decision; Moyer was later named to the team after Robinson turned professional. This was Moyer’s last defeat in his boxing career. Also on the show, fighting as a middleweight, future world champion Joey Maxim defeated Lou Angelucci to win the National A.A.U. championship. Offered here is an incredibly rare, original, stubless ticket to this event.
This is an original stubless ticket printed on heavy stock. Tear in lower right corner where stub was removed. Not creased. Results printed on back in pencil. Bold color and print. The only example we have seen. 3 1/2" x 5 1/4."
