Jack Root was born on May 26, 1876 in Austria. He defeated Kid McCoy on April 22, 1903 to win the World Light Heavyweight Title. He later fought Marvin Har on July 3, 1905 for the World Heavyweight Title but was defeated. He retired after defeating Fred Russell on February 26, 1906 with a final record of 46-3-4 with 2 no contests and 26 KO's. Presented here is a signed, typed letter of Jack Root written in 1939 on hotel stationary. Written to Tommy Farmer and speaks about the upcoming fight between Henry Armstrong and Ernie Roderick.
This is a one page typed letter. Boldly signed in ink, "Jack Root." Includes original folds. Some light ink bleedingf from notation on reverse. Minor edge and ocrner wear. 6" x 8."
