On September 26, 1932 at the Madison Square Garden Bowl in Long Island City, New York heavyweights Max Schmeling and Mickey Walker battled in the main event of an important division contest. Schmeling, who lost his title to Jack Sharkey in his previous bout, emerged victorious stopping Walker in the 8th round. Jack Kearns, Walker's manager, signaled Referee Denning to stop the bout. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting Walker down for the first time in the bout.
