On June 19, 1936, Joe Louis and Max Schmeling fought in the main event at Yankee Stadium. Louis was undefeated and a rising star in the division. This fight was seen as another stepping stone to a title shot for Louis. In a stunning upset Schmeling would KO Louis in the 12th round. Presented here is an original wire photo of Max Schmeling with Mr. Walker of the Athletic Commission on May 23, 1936 in Napanoch, New York as Schmeling trains for his june 18, 1936 encounter with Joe Louis.
