Gene Tunney became Heavyweight Champion in 1926 defeating Jack Dempsey. He also won the rematch in 1927 defeating Dempsey in the famous "Long Count" fight. In addition to Dempsey he posted career victories over Harry Greb, Tommy Loughran, Tom Heeney, Georges Carpentier and Battling Levinsky. Also held the American Light Heavyweight Title. Known as the "Fighting Marine" he retired in 1928 with a brilliant career mark of 77-1-3 with one no decision and one no contest and 45 victories by knockout. Presented here is an antique photo of Tunney shown here with Adam Gimble.
