Robert Villemain was born in Paris, France on January 10, 1924. He began his professional fighting career on December 28, 1944 with a second round knockout of Amar Jaafar. On October 14, 1946 he won the French Welterweight Title with a win over Omar Kouidri. On February 1, 1947 he stopped Ernie Roderick to win the European Welterweight Title. He fought some of the best fighters in the welterweight and middleweight division including Sugar Ray Robinson twice, Jake LaMotta, Steve Belloise, and Kid Gavilan. He retired after losing a split decision to Carl "Bobo" Olson in 1952. His final record was 52-7-4. He passed away in 1984. Offered here is a scarce signed photo of Robert Villemain.
