Barbados Joe Walcott fought G.V. Meakin on December 12, 1891 in Boston. He won by decision after 4 rounds. Presented here is an extrememly rare official program of Barbados Joe Walcott fighting in only his fourth professional fight. Later to go to fame as Welterweight Champion he fought here as a lightweight against the bigger Meakin (listed Meacon in the program). The bouts were fought under the auspices of the New England Association of the Amateur Athletic Union at the Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts.
This official program is 6" x 7 1/4" and is 20 pages in length. The program is vertically creased in the center where it was folded. There is some light soiling on the covers and inside. The covers are slightly separated from the binding. A ticket stub and a newspaper clip are glued to the pages inside.
