James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Presented here is an antique, first generation, mounted photo of Jeffries circa 1899 as world heavyweight champion.
This first generation, mounted antique photo measures 8 7/8 inched by 10 7/8 inches. The hard stock frame has corner and edge wear. The mounted photo is clean,crisp with no creases. The photo measures 6 inches by 8 inches. The images are vivid. The back has the name written in ink who appear on the photo which read - L to R George Miller, John Cline, Judge Banning and Jim Jeffries 1899.
