On July 4, 1910 in Reno, Nevada heavyweight champion Jack Johnson defended his title against former champion James J. Jeffries. This was a widely anticipated bout. Johnson completely outclassed Jeffries and stopped him in defense of his crown. Offered here is an original train schedule issued by the Southern Pacific Company for July 4, 1910 for trains returning from the big fight.
This is an original, four page schedule which includes trains coming from Reno to San Francisco and other locations. One is actually named the Corbett Special after former champion and Jeffries trainer James J. Corbett. Includes the original folds. Has some pen notations on third page. Some toning from age. Minor separation at folds, but no paper loss. Rare, the only example we have seen. 7" x 10 1/2."
