On June 13, 1946 at the University of Detroit Stadium Jake LaMotta and Jimmy Edgar squared off in an important middleweight contest. The two fought to a ten round draw. Referee Hennessey scored it 50-50 on points; Judge Fisher favored Edgar 52-48; and Judge Lenahan picked LaMotta 53-47. It was an intense battle held in 52 F weather. Nearly everyone at ringside thought that LaMotta had won and a scoring error was suspected, but a recount failed to locate a mistake. The Detroit News had LaMotta winning seven rounds to three. "It was the sort of fight that invites scoring differences. There were no knockdowns, no developments that could be cited as conclusive evidence that one man or the other was entitled to preference. It was simply a bruising brawl in the pattern of the two previous engagements between the same contestants." Offered here is a very rare official program to this event.
This official program pictures Jake LaMotta on the cover. 8 pages complete with scorecard and profiles of the fighters. Has a very mild center crease. Generally clean with just very minor spotting on front cover. Not scored. 6" x 9."
