HISTORY: Sam Langford began his professional boxing career on January 13, 1902 with a 3 round victory over Jack McVicker. Known as "The Boston Tar Baby," Langford had one of the best records in boxing for a man denied a shot at a world title. He amassed victories over Joe Jeanette, Young Peter Jackson, Jim Flynn, Harry Wills, Dixie Kid, Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Sam McVey, Gunboat Smith, and Kid Norfolk. He retired after stopping Fireman Jim Flynn in 3 rounds on October 19, 1923. Presented here is an original, antique photo of Sam Langford

FULL DESCRIPTION: This antique photo of Langford measures 5 3/4 inches by 8 inches. The edges and corners show minor wear. There are two vertical creases that run down the left and middle of the photo. The back has a stamping for the photographer and Langford's name and the original owner's name in type. The image is vivid.
