On November 30, 1956 heavyweight contenders Floyd Patterson and Archie Moore fought for the vacant heavyweight title at Chicago Stadium. The title became vacant when Rocky Marciano retired as undefeated champion. Patterson knocked Moore out in the 5th round to win the title. Offered here is the original National Boxing Association championship certificate awarded to Floyd Patterson following his victory over Archie Moore. Comes with a letter of authenticity from the widow of Floyd Patterson, Janet Patterson.
This is the original one page certificate which is printed on heavy stock paper of the National Boxing Association. Bold color and print. Signed and dated by the executive officers of the N.B.A. Not creased or torn. Clean front and back. Slight toning from aging. Aside from the championship belt awarded to Patterson this document represents the formal recognition of Floyd Patterson as world heavyweight champion. 8 1/2" x 11." LOA from Janet Patterson.
