On August 27, 1956 at Maindy Stadium in Cardiff, Wales heavyweights Joe Erskine and Johnny Williams battled for the vacant British Heavyweight Title (vacated by Don Cockell). This was the first British Heavyweight championship bout held in Cardiff. Erskine prevailed winning a 15 round decision and the title. On the undercard heavyweight Brian London knocked out Trevor Snell in the 2nd round. Offered here is an original, official program for this event.
