On January 27, 1902 at the County Athletic Club at Leeds, Yorkshire in Great Britain Philadelphia Jack O'Brien fought Charlie McKeever in a bout billed for the world middleweight title. O'Brien came in overweight and paid the forfeit price so the bout could commence. O'Brien was awarded the victory in the 3rd round when McKeever was disqualified on fouls. Offered here is an exceptionally rare, original boxing silk which was used to advertise the bout.
This boxing silk (made of silk fabric) pictures Philadelphia Jack O'Brien at center and has the flags and colors of the fighters in the corners. Both fighters are named as well as the date and purse. The color is vibrant. The image is bold and clear. Clean. Includes original folds. No tears in silk. Minor fading at borders. 26" x 27."
