On September 23, 1926 at Sesquicentennial Stadium in Philadelphia in front of a crowd of 120,557 Jack Dempsey defended his heavyweight tile against Gene Tunney. Tunney, the better boxer, avoided the powerful blows of Dempsey and won a unanimous ten round decision and the title. Offered here is a very rare, first generation panoramic photograph of Jack Dempsey posing in September, 1926 with his training camp. Taken in Orangeburg, New York at the training site of Dempsey's trainer Gus Wilson. Along with Dempsey and others this panorama pictures Gus Wilson, Jerry "The Greek" Luvadis, Big Bill Tate, Allentown Joe Gans and Tillie Pete Herman
This is an original, first generation, panoramic photograph. Image is bold and clear. Not creased. Closed tear on left border. Closed tear on right border with small tape stain on edge. Mild crack in emulsion of right edge. Generally clean. 9" x 17." Exceedingly rare.
