HISTORY: On May 30, 1892 at the National Sporting Club in London heavyweights Peter Jackson and Frank Slavin squared off with the British Commonwealth Heavyweight Title at stake. Jackson, the great black heavyweight of the era, was never able to get World Heavyweight Champion John L. Sullivan into the ring so he had to settle for other less notable opponents. Jackson dominated this match and knocked Slavin out in the 10th round in front of a full house which included the western hero Buffalo Bill Cody. Offered here is a rare Le Petit Parisen French magazine wich pictures the two fighters on the cover. Dated June 12, 1892.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original magazine picturing Jackson and Slavin on the cover. 8 pages complete including the covers. Mild center crease and light crease in lower right corner. No tears. Tape inside reinforcing pages at binding not affecting the cover. Clean without staining. Minor edge and surface wear. 11 1/2" x 17."
