GAVILAN, KID-JOHNNY BRATTON WIRE PHOTO (1951)

On May 18, 1951 at Madison Square Garden in New York world welterweight champion Johnny Bratton took on the "Cuban Hawk" Kid Gavilan in the main event. Gavilan prevailed and won the title by unanimous 15 round decision. Bratton's jaw was broken within the first five rounds. Offered here is an original,action wire photo for this event.
