Bobby Gunnis was a boxing promoter from 1916, until his death from a heart attack in 1936. Shortly after beginning his promotional career, Gunnis joined forces with Herman Taylor in a promotional partnership. The two eventually became among Philadelphia's top boxing promoters, most notably working with Tex Rickard in the promotion of the first Jack Dempsey - Gene Tunney match. Offered here is a first generation photograph dated May 14, 1935 of Bobby Gunnis and Herman Taylor/
This is an original, first generation photograph stamped on back by photographer Hood-Weintraub of Philadelphia. Has an inscription which was part of the original negative. Dated May 14, 1935. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Not creased. Minor edge and surface wear. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2."
