Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Sonny Liston on February 25, 1964. He announced his retirement in February of 1970 but was back in the ring later that October. He won the NABF Heavyweight Title On July 26, 1971 in a bout with Jimmy Ellis. He regained the World Heavyweight Title when he fought George Foreman in Zaire on October 30, 1974. He retired after losing to Trevor Berbick on December 11, 1981 with a final record of 56-5 with 37 KO's. In 1967, Muhammad Ali was stripped of his title and barred from boxing for refusing military induction. Unable to earn a living boxing Ali turned to other enterprises. In 1969 he starred in a Broadway musical entitled Buck White. The play was shown at the George Abbott Theatre in New York between December 2nd and December 6th, 1969. Only seven performances were held until the play closed. The play synopsis was: A militant black lecturer addresses a meeting organized by a black political group in this musical adaptation of Joseph Dolan Tuotti's play Big Time Buck White. Offered here is an extremely rare, original, on site poster for this event.
This is an original, cardboard, on site play poster which pictures Muhammad Ali. Bold color and print. Bold, clear image. Tack holes in corners with some cardboard loss at corners. Center crease. Minor soiling. Extremely rare, the only example we have seen for this play which ran only 4 days in 1969. 14" x 22."
