On December 26, 1908 in Sydney, Australia Jack Johnson shocked the world when he stopped World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Burns in the 14th round of their fight for the title. Johnson became the first African-American to win this coveted prize. Offered here is an advertising poster of Jack Johnson for the White Steam Touring Car (circa 1910).
This is an advertising poster picturing Jack Johnson in pose and training for his upcoming fight with Jim Jeffries. Entitled, "The Incomparable White." Johnson's penchant for cars is well documented and he was chosen to endorse the White Steam Touring Car as this poster suggests. The poster is on heavy stock carboard and has almost a leather type finish. There is a small gouge in upper right area outside the images. Two small scratches near the bottom. Maintains bold color and print. The images are clear. 10 1/2" x 14." Professionally framed. Quite rare.
