Regular price $500.00

HISTORY: On June 23, 1973 at Palais des Sports in Grenoble, France world welterweight champion Jose Napoles defended his title against Roger Menetrey. Napoles won a unanimous 15 round decision. "World welterweight champion Jose Napoles of Mexico bloodied Roger Menetrey in the 1st round of their title fight here Saturday night and then punished the confused and rudimentary French boxer enroute to a unanimous 15 round decision. Menetrey landed only one solid punch in a night of trying to stay away from the 33 year old champion's left hand. The Frenchman was in danger in the 2nd and 11th rounds, but he didn't go down. The Mexican came closest to knocking Menetrey out in the 11th. A flurry inside left the challenger's mouth hanging open and his nose bleeding. Menetrey ran from Napoles while he tried to catch his breath. Another hard shot just before the bell from Napoles had Menetrey's knees buckling." -Associated Press. Offered here is an original, on site poster for this event.
