ROBINSON, SUGAR RAY-DIEGO INFANTES ON SITE POSTER (1962)

On October 17, 1962 in Vienna, Austria middleweights Sugar Ray Robinson and Diego Infantes battled in a key matchup. Robinson prevailed stopping Infantes in the 2nd round. Also on the show Emile Griffith and Ted Wright battled for the light middleweight title. Griffith won a 15 round decision. Recognized by the Austrian Boxing Board of Control, but by no other agencies. "Griffith was the aggressor throughout, and thoroughly deserved the victory. It was doubtful if Wright won more than one round, but several were drawn..15 interesting rather than thrilling rounds." (Boxing News, October 26, 1962, page 12).
