On July 2, 1941 at the Polo Grounds in New York welterweights Fritzie Zivic and Al "Bummy" Davis squared off in the main event. Zivic, the stronger of the two, prevailed and stopped Davis in the 10th round. Davis was down in the first and the bell rang at count of seven. He took a pounding from the 7th round on. Davis put up a courageous effort. Bummy's end of the purse went to the US Army Relief Fund. On the undercard undefeated welterweight sensation and future multi champion Sugar Ray Robinson fought Pete Lello. It was Robinson's 20th professional fight. He stopped Lello in the 4th round. The paid attendance for this show was 8,968. Offered here is a rare, original, official program for this event.
