Max Schmeling was born on September 28, 1905 in Klein Luckaw, Brandenburg, Germany. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 12, 1930 in a bout with Jack Sharkey. He also held the German Light Heavyweight, European Light Heavyweight and German Heavyweight Titles. He retired after losing to Richard Vogt on October 31, 1948 with a final record of 56-10-4 with 38 KO's. Presented here is an original wire photo of Max Schmeling and his team in training camp for his rematch with Jack Sharkey in 1932.
