Mario "Marty" Servo (born in Schenectady, New York November 3, 1919, died in Pueblo, Colorado February 9, 1969) was the former world welterweight boxing champion. Servo began boxing in the mid-1930s. He became a professional boxer in 1938 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989. Servo had an impressive amateur career. He captured the Golden Gloves and Diamond Belt Featherweight Titles, and ended his career with an impressive record of 91-4.His pro record was an impressive 48-4-2. In 1946 he won the World Welterweight Title defeating Freddy Cochrane. Offered here is an original photograph of Marty Servo posing in the ring after a fight with his trainer Charlie Goldman which has been signed by both Servo and Goldman to Philadelphian Billy Bleiman.
This is an original, first generation photograph. Bold, clear image. Not creased or torn. Clean front and back. Minor edge wear. Boldly signed in ink by Goldman, "To Billy Bleiman whom we feel proud to call our friend & Pal Charlie Goldman." Marty Servo has signed in ink below Goldman's signature.
