On July 4, 1910 Jack Johnson defended his Heavyweight Title defeating former champion James Jeffries in a much celebrated event. Prior to the fight John L. Sullivan visited Jeffries at his training camp. Presented here is a real photo postcard of John L. Sullivan shaking hands with James J. Corbett as Joe Choynski and William Muldoon look on. Corbett and Choynski assisted Jeffries in his training.
This real photo postcard pictures John L. Sullivan and James J. Corbett in a rare pose shaking hands. William Muldoon, Joe Choynski and others look on. The postcard has writing on reverse and along front left edge. The names of Sullivan, Corbett, Muldoon and Choynski have been added neatly. There is a center crease. Small paper loss at top center border. Light soiling. Some paper affixed to reverse where this had been pasted into an album. A very rare image which is sharp and clear. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2".
