HISTORY: On March 23,1979 Larry Holmes defended his Heavyweight Title against Ossie Ocasio in Las Vegas. Holmes won the bout with by a 7th round TKO. The fight was televised live in prime time on ABC-TV. Earnie Shavers knocked out Ken Norton in one round on the undercard. 5,376 fans paid $345,000 to see the fight at the Las Vegas Hilton Pavilion. Holmes earned $1.2 million and Ocasio got $250,000. Holmes dropped Ocasio four times in the seventh round. The first knockdown was from a jab. The next three knockdowns came from right hands.
