On September 5, 1912 at Boyle's Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey world middleweight champion Johnny Wilson defended his title against Bryan Downey. The two had met a month and a half earlier with the fight ending in the 6th round when Downey was disqualified. This fight ended in a 12 round draw. Wilson and Downey "fought twelve tame rounds to a draw." (Newark Advocate & Trenton Times (INS)) Downey was recognized as champ in Ohio; Wilson was the recognized champ everywhere else. Offered here is an original, full, unused ticket to this event.
This is an original, full, unused ticket. Bold color and print. Stubs are firmly attached. Crease on main part of ticket. Three small tack holes near bottom border. Edge and corner wear. Tape reinforcement on the upper and lower borders. Ornate back. Extremely rare, the only example we have seen. 2 1/2" x 6 1/4."
