Henry Moses Dufur (born 6/5/1843 in Richmond, Vermont) was one of the most successful wrestlers in the 1860's and 1870's. Strong although weighing only 155 pounds, Dufur often easily handled men up to 250 pounds. He defeated William Jenkins and won the title with a victory over heralded James Owens on June 11, 1879. Fought to a draw with James McMahon in another highly touted match. Offered here is a rare original cabinet card of H. M. Dufur from the early 1880's.
This is an original cabinet of Dufur as Champion of the World. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Not creased or torn. Name written on left side in fountain pen. 4 1/8" x 6 1/2."
