HISTORY: On October 2, 1980 Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes fought former champion Muhammad Ali at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The aging Ali could not stand up to his talented former sparring partner and was systematically taken apart until the fight ended by TKO in round 11. Holmes was deeply upset the once great Ali had to absorb so much punishment before the fight was stopped.
