HISTORY: On August 17, 1938 at Madison Square Garden in New York world lightweight champion Lou Ambers defended his title against Henry Armstrong. The fight had originally been scheduled at the Polo Grounds on August 10, 1938. Armstrong won the fight and title by 15 round split decision. Scoring: 8-6-1 (Armstrong), 7-6-2 (Armstrong), 8-7 (Ambers). Armstrong was penalized 4 rounds, which were awarded to Ambers. Named #12 Greatest Title Fight of All-Time by The Ring Magazine in 1996.
