On May 24, 1940 at the Boston Garden world welterweight champion Henry Armstrong defended his title against Ralph Zannelli. Armstrong stopped Zannelli in the 5th round in defense of his title. Armstrong "punched with machine-like precision to drop Zannelli four times for nine counts" before the referee stopped the bout. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts 2nd round action with Zannelli down and Armstrong hovering over him. This is an original ACME Newspictures wire photo with their stamp and caption on the back. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Not creased or torn, but does have compression at bottom from handling. Minor edge wear. 7" x 9." Terrific image.
