Tommy Burns was born on June 17, 1881 in Chesley, Ontario, Canada. He defeated Marvin Hart on February 23, 1906 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He eventually lost the title to Jack Johnson on December 26, 1908. He retired after losing to Joe Beckett on July 16, 1920 with a final record of 46-5-9 with 37 KO's. Presented here is a signed photograph of Tommy Burns.
This is a collage style photograph of Tommy Burns which includes shots of him in his early years and fight sequences from his famous fight with Jack Johnson and square off photos of him against Philadelphia Jack O'Brien and Billy Squires. The photo has a center crease and small crease in the lower right and upper left corners. It is boldly signed in fountain pen ink in the lower right corner, "To Charles Kiddy Your Friend Tommy Burns." 11" x 14." We have never had this photograph before. Any signed photo of Burns is scarce, but particularly in this size.
