HISTORY: On May 24, 1975 at Plaza de Toros Monumental in Monterrey, Mexico world flyweight champion Miguel Canto defended his title against Betulio Gonzalez. Canto prevailed winning a close 15 round split decision. 

WBC flyweight champion Miguel Canto successfully defended his crown Saturday with a 15 round split decision over Betulio Gonzalez of Venezuela, who vigorously protested the result. As the announcer in the packed 16,000 seat Monterrey Bullring shouted that Canto was the winner, Gonzalez raised his arms, shook his head and loudly protested the decision in front of the judges and television cameras." -Associated Press . Purses - Canto - $40,000, Gonzalez - $12,000.
