HISTORY: Kid Chocolate was born on January 6, 1910 in Cuba. Kid Chocolate defeated Benny Bass by TKO in the 7th round on July 15, 1931 to win the World Junior Lightweight Title. He later fought Tony Canzoneri for the World Lightweight Title but was unsuccessful.
Presented here is the original National Boxing Association award given to Kid Chocolate in recognition of his victory over Benny Bass to capture the N.B.A. world junior lightweight title..
FULL DESCRIPTION: This award certificate is paper. It has the seal of the National Boxing Association and is signed by the Executive Secretary. dated August 4, 1932. It states in part, "Know Men by These Presents: Whereas Kid Chocolate having won the title of Champion Boxer of the World in the Junior Lightweight Class, in open competition, under the rules of the National Boxing Association. It is therefore declared and published, that the said Kid Chocolate be and is hereby recognized by the National Boxing Association of America, as the Junior Lightweight Champion Boxer of the World and is awarded the National Boxing Association Belt. Print remains bold with some discoloration. Center fold. Mild edge wear. Mild soiling. 8 1/4" X 10 1/2." Framed. Extremely rare and important award from the sanctioning body governing the fight.
