HISTORY: In the 1964 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo Joe Frazier of Philadelphia emerged with a gold medal in the heavyweight division of boxing. Frazier was the only American in 1964 to emerge with a gold medal. Presented here is an original, first generation photograph depicting Joe Frazier defeating Hans Huber of Germany on October 23, 1964 to win the gold medal. Frazier accomplished this with a broken left thumb which he injured in his previous fight.
