HISTORY: Larry Gains was a Canadian born heavyweight of note during the first part of the 20th century. Born in Toronto on December 12, 1901 Gains started his professional career on June 23, 1923. Never a champion, but he did well against some who were knocking out Max Schmeling and winning a decision over Primo Carnera. He also defeated George Cook, George Godfrey and Jack Renault and fought a draw with Mike McTigue. Gains died on July 26, 1983. Offered here is a very scarce signed photograph of Larry Gains.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This photo pictures Gains in full fight pose. Signed in ballpoint ink, "Best wishes from Larry Gains 1970." Pen skipped slightly in the signature and in the m in from. No creases, rips or tears. Clean front. Minor edge and corner wear. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2."
